David Ryan Harris

David Ryan Harris is a soul singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer known for his rich blend of blues, soul, and rock. After co-founding the genre-bending band Follow For Now in the early ’90s, he signed to Columbia Records as a solo artist and released his self-titled debut in 1997. He later formed Brand New Immortals under Elektra, before the label folded and he pivoted to a prolific career as both a solo artist and collaborator.

Harris gained international recognition as a longtime guitarist and vocalist in John Mayer’s band (2004–2012) and has since written, produced or performed with artists including Dave Matthews, India.Arie, Santana, Derek Trucks, Cassandra Wilson, and Guy Sebastian. He co-wrote and produced six tracks on India.Arie’s Songversation, and his independent solo albums — including the fan-favourite The Bittersweet (2007) and Lightyears (2015) — feature appearances from John Mayer, India.Arie, Susan Tedeschi and Nikka Costa. Known for his soulful vocals and emotionally resonant songwriting, Harris continues to be a powerful voice in contemporary music.
