HOW TO ENTER
Entry is easy via our online portal (see link below).
The entry fee is AU$50 per song (about US$32 or €28) [plus GST for AU residents only].
All you need is:
- Your song/s in MP3 or WAV format
- Songs can be a simple phone recording, in demo format (some production), or fully mixed and mastered
- We accept both released and unreleased songs
- There is no time limit on when songs were written.
- A photo of yourself (Max. 5MB)
- A short bio (Max 300 words)
- If you’re under 18: a letter of authority from your parent or guardian.
This is an international competition open to all songwriters – published or unpublished, signed or unsigned.

Since 2009, the competition has unearthed and awarded songwriters at varying stages of their careers. Some of these are now the most celebrated names in contemporary music, including: King Stingray, Budjerah, Charley, Genesis Owusu, MAY-A, Baker Boy, Thelma Plum, Ruel, Matt Corby, Sarah Aarons, Amy Shark, Gang of Youths, Mallrat, Gretta Ray, and many more.
Pictured is MAY-A, who won 3rd prize ($5,000) in 2021 with Time I Love To Waste. At the time, she said: “Feeling very blessed to win third place. I didn’t think I was very good so it’s nice to be told otherwise (haha).”
